Booking through Presents!!

What, if any, memorable or special book have you ever gotten as a present? Birthday or otherwise. What made it so notable? The person who gave it? The book itself? The “gift aura?”

Well to be really really truthful - no one ever gifted me a book! So the question of it becoming memorable was never possible.
The problem with me is - I don't know, what I really want as a gift. I know I would love to get books ... but then I don't know which one's. In short I like surprises. Surprise me with a thoughtful gift - it need not be big- pricey or anything like that... the thought is what matters and of course he gift too :D :D

Yours?!

I suppose that you need to begin to HINT around gift-giving time, so that family and friends have an idea. Happy Booking Through Thursday. I'm hosting a book giveaway. Check out my sidebar.

it is the thought behind the gift which matters :)

It was a lot easier to buy me books as gifts when I was younger.

I never received a book gift either! I have been given gift cards for Borders though. I loved those!

My husband will ask me what I want for my birthday or Christmas and I'll say books. Then he'll ask which ones and I'll say I don't know because I can never make up my mind. We don't purchase books too often, so I want to use our money wisely. Of course he just rolls his eyes but I'm used to that.

People are afraid to buy books for me because I have so many. They don't want to buy a duplicate. So I tell everyone to take a look at my Amazon wish list...or give me gift certificates to bookstores, which is just like giving me gold.

I know what you mean :) it is indeed gold to get something like that

I'm reading a lot of posts today that say folks don't get many books as presents. Hmmm. I do. They're not always what I would choose, but I always find something interesting.

For example, in my post today I mentioned that the first book my hubby gave me was an Elvis Presley cookbook. Ha!

i wrote about receiving a book that was part of a series I hadn't intended to bother with ... turned out to be a blessing in disguise, I ended up getting the entire series :)

But yeah, if you want books (any anything specific) for presents, just tell (or hint), ... or set up a wish list that you can refer people to, for an idea of what you're looking for... although like others have indicated - getting a gift card to a bookstore is also good :)
